KISW brings back the rock concerts at Pain in the Grass in 2013. Prolong your summer with Seattle’s epic Pain in the Grass festival because this year features the best line-up to date with Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold and Jane’s Addiction as headliners. Rock music will resound at it’s best at the Gorge Amphitheater on September 6th and 7th.
Alice in Chains was formed in Seattle more than two decades ago by the guitarist and songwriter Jerry Cantrell and the lead vocalist Layne Staley. Along with other Seattle bands such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden, Alice in Chains took part of the grunge movement of the early ’90s. In addition to the grunge sound of the band, their music also incorporates heavy metal, alternative rock and acoustic elements. Alice in Chains has released five studio albums, the last one, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, being released on May 28, 2013.
Avenged Sevenfold, sometimes abbreviated as A7X, combine unique lyrics and screamed vocals with hardcore punk-inspired metal, guitar attack, and infectious hooks. The band formed in Huntington Beach, CA in 1999 by Singer M. Shadows and guitarist Zacky Vengeance, later adding the lead guitarist and backing vocalist Synyster Gates, bass guitarist Johnny Christ, and drummer Arin Ilejay. To date, Avenged Sevenfold sold more than 8 million albums worldwide and has released five studio albums, one live DVD, and eighteen singles.
Jane’s Addiction formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985 with Perry Farrell (vocals), Dave Navarro (guitar), Eric Avery (bass) and Stephen Perkins (drums) as original line-up. VH1 placed the band on the 35th place on the “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” list. Jane’s Addiction is usually regarded as one of the most influential band in alternative music, its work affecting artists like Tool, Korn, The Smashing Pumpkins, Limp Bizkit, Candlebox, P.O.D., Incubus, System of a Down.
