Dave Matthews Band is an American Rock band, often associated with the jam-band movement, and originate from Charlottesville, Virginia. The founder of the band, Dave Matthews, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Other members include bassist Stefan Lessard, drummer/backing vocalist Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore and Boyd Tinsley.
In 2009 the band released their biggest album, "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King", which made it to number 1 on the Billboard 200. This amazing success boosted the band and allowed them to play in bigger stadiums around the US throughout the early 2000's. Their improvised sets and unique performances make them a fantastic band to see, so make sure you get your tickets before they all sell out.
"I was talking to drummer Carter Beauford about how much I still like just sitting around playing music together," Matthews said in a statement. "It's how we started – in the basements of Carter's and my mom's houses. Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?"
