In 2012, Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight formed what is popularly known as Odesza. They first met in college during their senior year and found how much DJ Maul-IE greatly influenced them.
The name of the band comes from the name of the wrecked ship owned by Mills' uncle, which was named after the Ukrainian city of Odesa. Only his uncle and one other crew member made it out alive. They opted to adopt a variant of the Hungarian spelling, substituting the letter "sz" for the letter "ss," because a Scottish synth band was already using the term "Odessa."
The combination of cinematic visuals, pyrotechnics and lighting effects, lush live instrumentation (including ODESZA's beloved drumline), surprise guests and performers, and a passionate fan base will bring to life a truly innovative and immersive experience. These shows capture everything that has made ODESZA one of live music's modern marvels.
The performances will usher in the end of the GRAMMY-nominated duo's most avant-garde musical period to date, which included the release of their highly regarded album "The Last Goodbye" in 2022, a nomination for a GRAMMY for Best Electronic Album, a win for Best Electronic Record at the 2023 Libera Award presented by A2IM, and the world premiere of their first concert film.
During the concert series, outstanding performers, Bob Moses, Ben Böhmer, Tinlicker, Big Boi, DRAMA, and Golden Features will be sharing the same stage with Odesza.
As announced by the duo, “As we look to bring The Last Goodbye Tour to a close, we are overwhelmed with how bittersweet it all feels. The journey to this point has been unimaginable – exceeding all our expectations – and we are excited to show you the final chapter of this experience. The new performance starting in June builds upon the live show and allows us to edit, extend, remix and play songs we haven’t before. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to perform in some of the most iconic venues across the U.S. These last shows mark the culmination of The Last Goodbye Tour, and we can’t wait to share what we have been working on with our fans, both old and new.”
