The phenom is debuting under a new name, Johnny Blue Skies, with his band. Musicians Robbie Crowell on keys, Kevin Black on bass, Miles Miller on Drums, and Laur Jomaets will all come back with Simpson on this brand new trek to not only introduce the new name, but also a forthcoming effort, Passage Du Desir.
However, there is no need for longtime Sturgill Simpson fanatics to scratch heads on this new development. The new name will continue the legacy of Simpson’s works. Expect a plethora of old titles to still take center stage as Johnny Blue Skies take the lead on this 2024 outing. For those asking “Why” Simpson is debuting under this new title, he aptly named his 2024 trek “Why Not?” as an answer to the question. But importantly, Simpson and the band will be going all out on making themselves known as Johnny Blue Skies - starting with two remarkable appearances at both Austin City Limits Festival Weekend.
